AMC seizes 3 tonne rotten mangoes from Havmor food unit, slaps Rs 10,000 fine

Health department teams of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation today raided Lions school complex campus in Naroda area and seized 3 tonne rotten mangoes meant for making pulp for famous food retail brand Havmor.

According to AMC officials, Havmor had taken a space in school campus for making mango based products during vacation time when the school remains closed.

When AMC received complain about unhygienic manufacturing of food products in a school campus, it raided the place and found 3 tonne rotten mangoes there. AMC slapped fine of Rs 10,000 and seized 3 tonne of rotten mangoes allegedly there for use in food products. However Havmor person present in the campus told media persons that the company uses only Valsadi aafoos which is considered the best quality of mango. Rotten mangoes were separated and kept separately and they were not used in pulp. However AMC officials and media persons present there said that rotten mangoes were also used in food products.
