MyByk pilot project launched for BRTS commuters in Ahmedabad

In a major step to encourage cycling in India the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has introduced MyByk initiative in city this week.
MyByk facilitates Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) commuters to access bus stations from homes and workplaces through specially-designed and dedicated bicycles.
Greenpedia Bike Share Pvt Lted, a fim that has tied up with AMC for the MyByk initiative has introduced trial service at three BRTS stations to start with during 9.00 am to 9.00 pm. The BRTS stations are – Shivranjani, IIMA crossroads and Helmet crossroad. Next BRTS stations to host this initiative will be Sola road, Thakkarbapa Nagar, Soni ni Chawl, Jashodanagar and Isanpur.
Once registered as a member, a person is provided a key chain that has inbuilt RFID chip in it which carries the personal information of the member. When the member parks or takes a bicycle, he need to swipe the key chain onto a machine reader. The company will take care of the maintenance and general repairs of the bicycle with no extra charge excluding any major damage.
