Tata Power Mundra develops Community Academy in Tunda village

Tata Power, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL) today announced the launch of the Community Academy in Tunda village, Mundra to provide a strong educational foundation to the nearby schoolchildren, educate youth as per the market demands and shape their future in a systematic manner.
The Community Academy aims to provide supplementary education in English as well as offer personality development for the school children and rural youth. The program has been implemented in more than 80 schools across 50 panchayats. Tunda Vandh Panchayat (Mundra) supported the initiative and provided the premises for the classes.
Trainees filled up registration forms, post which classes commenced at the academy. The classes are conducted through audio-visual lessons, graphical representation of information where reading and writing practices as well spoken English are encouraged. The sessions have been designed to educate through interactive and entertaining elements such as games, puzzles and exercises. Trainees have been divided into two groups, where Group 1 consisted of students from standard 1 to 10 and Group 2 consisted of students from standard 10 and the rest of the youth. The academy has designed and framed different curriculum for both the groups considering their level of education as well as understanding. Around 40 students were included in Group 1 and 25 students were included in Group 2.
Prior to initiating the program, Tata Power and the faculties of A LA Grand Academy conducted a systematic survey to gauge the needs and requirements of children and rural youth. Through the results of the survey, the Company observed the need for English literacy and personality development amongst the target groups.
