Gujarat Budget:Exclusive SRP battalion to protect public properties

Gujarat government has planned to set-up an exclusive SRP(State Reserve Police) battalion for the protection of important public properties.
This was announced by Finance Minister today in his budget speech.
He also announced that it is planned to create a separate Women Police Band in the state.
Proposing a provision of Rs. 4,305.91 crore under Plan and Non Plan for the Home Department for maintenance of Law and Order, he announced provision of Rs.140 crore for modernization of Police Force and Forensic Science Laboratory, Rs 241.80 crore for the office and residential building construction for the Police Department. Rs 85 crore for modernizing the communication technologies of four Police Commissionerates and Gandhinagar offices, Rs 26.25 crore for the purchase of bullet proof jackets, bullet proof helmets, material for the riot control and water cannons
as well as for the purchase of items / materials for the bomb squads for the newly formed districts, Rs 50 crore for the purchase of new vehicles for the police force, Rs 35.45 crore for modernization, construction works, CCTV cameras and increase in the staff for the Jails of the state.
Finance Minister has made Rs 6 crore allocation for strengthening the traffic control system and for implementing the automatic traffic management system on the Express Highways and in the Corporation areas.
He has also allocated Rs 21.84 crore for filling up 1500 vacancies in the traffic police administration.
A provision of Rs 17.45 crore has been made for filling up 1000 vacancies in the District Armed Forces with a view to maintain the Law and Order in the state.
A provision of Rs 8.58 crore has been made for filling up the vacancies of 1000 drivers in the Police Administration.
