Gujarat Budget: Highlights of proposals for Industrial development

Here are some of the highlights of Finance Minister Saurabh Patel’s budget allocations for Industries and Mines department.

-Rs. 27 crore for development of infra in mining areas.

-Rs. 28 crore for Geo-chemical mapping and for identification of mineral sites and their mapping.

-Gujarat exploration project to explore minerals along with rare-earth and to undertake research. Provision Rs. 20 crore.

-Rs. 10 crore for proposed regional rail project which is to be carried out in partnership of Rail Vikas Nigam, Government of India. It will connect 38 stations in-total. Ahmedabad will be connected to Kalol-Kadi, Sanand-Viramgam-Katosan road, Naroda-Prantij, Barejadi-Mehmdabad.

-Rs. 10 crore provision for the Island Development Authority which will contribute for development, exploring the potential of tourism and security of islands on coastline of the state.

-Creation of global level Knowledge Hub at Chokari village in Padra taluka of Vadodara district. Children University, Teachers University, Sports and Central Universities to render their services with common infrastructure. Initial provision of Rs. 50 crore has been made. Additional provision of Rs. 20 crore to be made.

-Rs. 10 crore provision for Bechraji-Mandal Special Investment Region(SIR).

-Rs. 25 crore for permanent facility to hold industrial exhibitions at River Front in Ahmedabad.

-Rs. 10 crore to set up Textile University in Dream City, Surat.

-Rs. 32 crore to develop Industrial park, Logistic Park and a Park for Defence Manufacturing.

-Garments, Agro food processing etc are the sectors with a very high potential of employment. Such labour intensive units will be provided Pay Roll based incentives for the first time. The government will provide Rs. 1200 per month for each male worker and Rs. 1500 per month for each female worker who are on the pay roll of such units. Such assistance/incentive will be given to the units for five years. A provision of Rs. 10 crore has been made for the first year.

-Rs. 4.5 crore for authentic and detailed survey of MSME sector and registration of MSMEs.

-Rs 562 crore for the augmentation of MSME sector.

-Rs 24 crore for the assistance to industrial units to participate in National and International Exhibitions.
