Nuisance of Nil Gai and Pigs: Govt spends Rs. 751.50 cr in year, 3,474 Sarpanchs given power to take actions

Gujarat government spent Rs. 751.50 crore in a scheme that offers half cost of erection of fencing to farmers so that they can protect their standing crops against the menace of Nil Gai, pig and other animals.
The state government has also appointed 3,474 sarpanchs as honorary wild life conservators and given them power to take action against rose-Nil Gai that damage crops.
In some cases like Dantiwada in Banaskantha in north Gujarat, the registrar of local agricultural university is appointed for certain number of villages as honorary wild life conservator.
Honorary wildlife conservators are authorized to order elimination of Nil Gai, Rose and Pigs that are found nuisance for agricultural crops.
