The work for world’s tallest proposed statue ‘Statue of Unity’ featuring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is going on at two locations.
In Delhi, a 90-year-old sculpture Ram Sutar is giving final touch to model of Statue of Unity, based on which the actual statue will be built in China.
At Kevadia colony in central Gujarat where proposed statue is going to be installed, construction of a 200 meter long bridge supported by steel pipes is going on. This will be a motorable bridge for monsoon period to reach Sadhu tekri where the statue is going to be installed.
A 72-meter high Sadhu tekri has been cut to 53.5 meter level for installation of 182 meter statue and its base structure.
Construction of a bridge was essential to reach Sadhu tekri in monsoon period when level of river Narmada is high.
The bridge is about 40 meter high and 200 meter long.
The statue project is likely to be completed in year 2018 at estimated cost of Rs 2989 crore.
