Gujarat plant of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) commissioned

Chief Minister Mrs Anandiben Patel today inaugurated the fourth Indian plant of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), a fully owned subsidiary of the world’s largest two wheeler company Honda Motor, at Vithalapur in Mandal Taluka of Ahmedabad district.

The first scooter only plant of the company in India with an installed capacity of 12 lakhs units of automatic scooters per annum has been set up with an investment of Rs 1100 crore.

Its first production line of 6 lakh capacity was inaugurated today while the second line with similar capacity will also become operational this year taking the total capacity of the company from existing 46 lakhs to 58 lakhs with an increase of 26%.

The plant situated at a distance of around 80 km form Ahmedabad has created 3000 job opportunities including 800 direct ones.

Spread in around 250 acres, the plant has been commissioned in a record time of 13 months. It will initially produce 2 models including Activa.

Its 22 suppliers have also invested Rs 1100 crore.

President & CEO of HMSI Keita Muramatsu was also present on the occasion.

The other 3 plants of the company are in Manesar (Haryana), Alwar (Rajasthan), and Bangalore(Karnataka).
