Union Minister of State for Small and Medium Industries and Congress leader Dinsha Patel, who also heads the Sardar Patel Memorial Trust today demanded a nation-wide-ban on Jaswant Singh’s book for its “defamatory references” to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Dinsha who represents Kheda constituency in parliament belongs to Nadiad town where Sardar Patel was born.
Dinsha said the ban on Jaswant Singh’s book in Gujarat is good but not enough. One can buy a book in Delhi and bring it to the state. To ensure that future generations don’t read wrong history, it is necessary to ban the book nationwide. Dinsha said he would write this to the Prime Minister and raise this issue in parliament if needed. Dinsha said, he would also seek clarification from Jaswant Singh on his remarks about Sardar Patel in the book.
