Gujarat HC refuses to admit plea seeking immediate announcement of Gujarat election schedule

Ahmdedabad: Gujarat High Court has refused to admit a plea seeking announcement of dates for Gujarat elections on immediate basis. One Praful Desai from Vadodara who runs a registered political party namely ‘Jaagte Raho’ had filed public interest litigation in the High Court seeking announcement of dates for Gujarat elections. The general elections of Gujarat assembly are likely to be announced anytime this month. Present term of Gujarat assembly expires in later half of January 2018. Election Commission has in its recent press conference clarified that polling for Gujarat assembly will be completed by January 18 and announcement of schedule will be made soon.
