My priority is to ensure peaceful Gujarat polls: In-charge DGP Pramod Kumar after taking charge

New In-Charge DGP of Gujarat Pramod Kumar, who took charge of his office today, said that his priority was to ensure that upcoming Gujarat assembly election was held peacefully.
Talking to newsmen today after assuming the charge of his new office. Kumar, the 1983 batch IPS officer who was appointed as the In-charge DGP today on the instruction of the Election Commission, said his priority was to ensure that the election was held in a peaceful manner.
‘I also want to ensure that as per the guidelines and instructions of the ECI to hold the two phased election in free and fair manner, it is held completely peacefully,’ he said.
Notably, after the instruction of the ECI to appoint the senior-most police official as the in-charge DGP of poll bound Gujarat, 1983 batch IPS Pramod Kumar was today handed over the charge of the office. His appointment was necessitated owing to retirement of in-charge DGP Geetha Johri yesterday.
Kumar will attain superannuation in February next year.
