Good rain brings good news. One day power cut on industry in Gujarat is lifted following relief given by rain.
Earlier due to erratic monsoon this year, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited had announced two days power cut on non continuous industries to provide extra electricity to the agriculture sector. Some industries were found violating the staggered power cut and had faced penalty.
Most parts of Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Saurashtra, South Gujarat experienced rains in last two days with the revival of monsoon. More rain in the next two days is expected.
Meanwhile addressing the press in Rajkot, Gujarat’s energy minister Saurabh Patel said that weekly two days power cut was imposed in the state due to maintenance in power stations, more demand from agriculture sector and delayed rain all these three reasons together at the same time. Due to delayed rain there was 1 crore unit extra demand on daily bases.
“Existing power deficit would be completely solved once our 3 units are re-activated before 16th of this month. After 1st of December this year new 2000 mw (20%)would be added to state’s total capacity. This would ease the situation for a longer time.” Energy Minister said.
