As per directives of Aids Control Society, mandatory HIV test during pregnancy is ordered for all government and private maternity homes by district authorities in five ‘grade A’ rated HIV districts of Gujarat.
These five districts are Surat, Panchmahal, Surendranagar, Mehsana and Banaskatha.
New mandatory provision is being implemented to obtain true figures of HIV+ people in these districts where proportion of HIV+ is found higher than the other areas.
