District Collectors to organize NRI Gujarati Meets in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 26 November, 2008
For larger participation of Non-Resident Gujaratis in the mega business summit Vibrant Gujarat 2009 and to involve them in beautifying their native villages and towns. Government of Gujarat’s NRG Foundation has sent a circular to all district collectors to organise a special ‘NRG meet’ at their respective headquarters before this year ends, and make all efforts to involve NRGs in various development schemes. Special NRG committees headed by the collector will act as the agency to carry out this work. Aim of this exercise is to help NRGs channelise their savings and surplus financial resources into state’s development
Collectors will try to involve NRGs in various state government schemes such as mid-day meals, small savings and others. Besides, NRGs can also associate their name by sponsoring projects for creating amenities like public garden, library, drinking water points in their respective villages and towns.
A fresh database of NRGs in respective districts, with details like their current address, contact details and profession will also be prepared. This database will not only help the administration to avail financial help from them but also facilitate assistance they require, especially during emergencies.
