Wooing Thakors, Advani kick starts Gandhinagar campaign(Video)

Gujarat’s Thakor community is traditionally aligned to Congress party but in recent past Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has done all to ensure Thakor Community’s votes in BJP’s favor.

OBC Thakor community is also considered as a part of state’s Khashtriya vote bank. Major Thakor pockets are located in North Gujarat area. Due to Thakor voters, BJP had lost North Gujarat’s Mehsana seat in last Loksabha election.

Narendra Modi recently selected Kanaji Thakor as Ahmedabad’s new mayor. Modi surprisinbgly selected Natuji Thakor, a yound and unknown face as a Rajyasabha candidate last year. Modi recently appointed Punjaji Thakor as a Chairman of Thakor Koli Development Board.

Central Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela is member of parliament thanks to Thakor voters in Kapadvanj area. BJP lost Kapadvanj, Mahudha, Vagdod seats in last assembly election. All the three seats are Thakor dominated.

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Shri LK Advani is going to fight an election from Gandhinagar constituency. This constituency has considerable voters from Thakor community. Last year Gandhinagar district’s leading Thakor leader left Congress party and joined BJP. He was officially inducted into the party in presence of Shri LK Advani last week.
