Gujarat poll bytes(5):Something on lighter side

On a lighter side of the Lok Sabha elections 2009, here I’m writing something that first clicked in my mind after reading a particular headline.

Headline

Harin Pathak renominated by the BJP on Ahmedabad-East Lok Sabha seat

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

Heartily congratulation to Harinbhai for this marvelous achievement. It is indeed an achievement because Harinbhai is not SC, not ST, not Koli, not Thakor, not Kadva Patel, not Leuva Patel, not Kshatriya, not Chaudhari and despite of all this, he has got the BJP ticket in Gujarat. Isn’t it an achievement? Believe me, it’s a big one.

Headline

Mallika Sarabhai will be contesting from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

She is rich enough to afford loosing Rs. 10,000 deposit.
Getting amazing amount of publicity for two months in print and television for free is not a bad deal anyway.

Headline

Congress MLA Bhavsinh Rathod is BJP candidate for Patan Lok Sabha seat

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

Bhavsinh, the smartest Congress man.

Headline

Bhavsinh gave money for vote:Congress complains Election Commission with a Video CD

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

Common! Bhavsinh had given money to a Dholi in Dhinoj village. Next time Bhavsinh will have to be extra cautious while giving money to his Maali(gardener), driver, wife or even son(pocket money). Congress men can be there any time at any place to capture it in the video to produce one more complaint before an election commission.

Headline

BJP’s Rajkot candidate got a ticket just two days after he joined forget the party but even politics

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

This is like a student getting admission in a college(with a scholarship), without going to school for even a single day. And remember on 16th of May(election result day) this student(Kiran patel from Rajkot) will come out of the college with a degree. This is called Narendra Modi university!

Headline

Bollywood actress Amisha Patel to contest from Rajkot on NCP ticket

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

Tell her about the usual temperature in Rajkot in April and she will drop her idea.

Headline

Dr.Kirit Solanki is BJP’s candidate for Ahmedabad-West seat(where I live)

The first thing that clicked in my mind!

Who is he?

The quest continues…

Even veteran local BJP office bearers have no answer. On the contrary, they ask me, a journalist, ‘who is he?’
