I don’t take vacation:Narendra Modi(Video)
Gandhinagar, DeshGujarat, 12 May, 2009
Sitting in Chief Minister’s office again after longest nation-wide election campaign, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said, he doesn’t take vacation. He is servant of Gujarat’s people.
When asked how he started his first day in Gandhinagar after long election campaign, Modi said, “After completing my election campaign tour yesterday night, I started my Yoga and Pranayam today early in the morning . I also had massage and steam bath. Then I called Rajnath Singhji, Advaniji and Gujarat state BJP President Purushottam Rupala on phone. I told Rupalaji that his servant is here in Gujarat now. I am party’s worker and these three are my Bose, so I called them. Then went through some posts and files and at office time now I am here in my office.”
On his Bharat journey during election campaign, Modi said, ” I stayed in airplane for 350, 400 hours during this election campaign. Sometimes while traveling long distance in plane, I slept inside the plane during night and back to work in the morning again. I had a responsibility and I enjoyed it.”
Added to this Modi said, “Earlier elections were held maximum in two phases but this time there were five phases and therefore I got rare opportunity of meeting crores of people in one election campaign. Earlier there were only railway journeys but now there are planes and helicopters because of which this became possible.”
One incident, Modi preferred to narrate was his sudden chat with Chief Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla at Bareli airport day before yesterday in airport’s VIP lounge. Modi said, “I finished my public meeting in Bareli and in airport’s VIP lounge, I saw Election Commission Chief Naveen Chawla who was there because his plane couldn’t take off due to bad weather. I asked him to come with me in my plane to Ahmedabad. He advised me not to venture in air as weather was unfriendly. I said, I have habit of taking challenges. Chawlaji said:Modiji this is the last day of campaign and even after your nation-wide campaign, how come you are still looking fresh! He was surprised.”
