Bharuch, DeshGujarat, 13 May, 2009
Central Gujarat’s important chemical hub and district head quarter Bharuch may get Municipal Corporation status by next year.
The state government has recently given a permission to extend the limits of Bharuch town, after which the civic authority has started an exercise of adding all villages on Bharuch side of National Highway No.8 in to civic authority area. Villages like Bholav, Nandelav, Jhadeshwar, Umraj etc will be added to Bharuch as a part of this exercise. Survery work is on in this regard. Bharuch’s total population will be around 3.5 lakh after these new areas are added.
A discussion at different level at Gandhinagar is also going on to make Bharuch and Ankleshwar ‘twin- city’.Geographically and culturally they have already become ‘twin-city’ but officially they are two different towns.
Meanwhile, survey work for Bharuch-Dahej 60 km broad gauge railway line conversion work is 50% complete. Once ready, this line would open a new chapter of industrial development in Bharuch and Ankleshwar.
