Vinod Dagri, the key accused in the Gujarat hooch tragedy has been arrested by the Crime Branch in Vadodara on Friday, Jul 17.
Two of his associates Ajay Thakkar and Sunil were also arrested along with him. Gujarat police have also held massive raids across the state and booked more than 6,000 people so far for violating prohibition.
Dagri is a resident of Mehamdabad (near Ahmedabad), he was the mastermind behind the supply of the killer country liquor that killed over 136 poor slum dwellers in Ahmedabad last week. Dagri was absconding since the tragedy happened.
The arrested bootlegger Harishankar Kahar had told the Crime Branch that he purchased 1,000 litres of country liquor from Vinod Dagri in Mehamdabad. Thus Dagri’s name was out as the main culprit in illicit liquor deaths.
