Striking junior doctors from various government and civic hospitals across the state today formed a human chain on the B.J. medical college ground for news photographers in Ahmedabad’s Civil hospital campus.
Striking doctors were today prevented to operate a parallel morning OPD in Civil hospital campus. They then went to old-age homes to serve the old people there and prove that they are not anti-patient, anti-poor. The Civil hospital source told DeshGujarat that there was already an official OPD running in morning hours at the campus and no a parallel OPD was not needed. Also the parallel OPD could harm the patients as the striking doctors had not sufficient instruments or medicines or follow up procedure.
In another related development, the Indian Medical Association(IMA) today announced its support to demands of the doctors. However IMA specified that it doesn’t support the strike.
