An all party meeting called at Gandhinagar by the Chief Minister to discuss swine flu situation in the state was today attended by ex-Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Gujarat BJP President Purushottam Rupala, Leader of opposition in vidhansabha Shri Shaktisinh Gohil, Gujarat Congress President Shri Siddharth Patel, Speaker of Vidhansabha Shri Ashok Bhatt, BJP leader Jayanti Barot, Ministers Jaynarayan Vyas, Anandiben Patel and Amit Shah among others.
The Chief Minister invited all the ex-Chief Ministers to the meeting, however ex-CMs Suresh Mehta, Madhavsinh Solanki, Shankarsinh Vaghela and Dilip Parikh were not present in the meeting.
In the meeting, it was decided to launch a public awareness campaign across the state on swine flu and how it is contracted. “We will launch a public awareness campaign for swine flu in the state,” principal secretary health Ravi Saxena said.
Leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said the central government has already dispatched tablets and kits for testing swine flu as demanded by the state.
“I have suggested that the state government should avoid large scale celebrations of Independence Day and forthcoming Navaratri festival as it would spread the virus further,” Gohil said, adding that even NRGs should not be invited for such events this year due to the epidemic.
