Stop defaming Gujarat:State tells Centre and Congress

Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 11 September, 2009
Gujarat government spokesperson Jaynarayan Vyas on Friday criticized central Home Minister P.Chidambaram’s statement on Ishrat Jahan encounter case. Jaynarayan said, Chidambaram being an advocate must be knowing that Gujarat High court has already appointed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the case. SIT will report its findings to High Court and it is the High Court that will give the verdict based on facts. When this process is going on, why the central government is crying in-between, disobeying the due process? This is clearly a policy of appeasing.
Jaynarayan said, centre is playing political game to escape from the affidavit that it has filed. According to Human Right Commission there were 473 encounters in the country:253 in Uttar Pradesh, 45 in Maharashtra, 44 in Andhra Pradesh, 43 in Assam, even in total 391 police encounters, 35 were in Rajasthan, 26 in Maharashtra, 14 in Andhra Pradesh, 11 in Madhya Pradesh and only 8 in Gujarat. But no body discusses any encounter of other state. They just want only to defame Gujarat, and there is a conspiracy to attack the state for one and the other reason.
Vyas said, lying and lying loudly will not work, and centre is doing exactly that to frame Gujarat. Jaynarayan also attacked Virappa Moily for his stand on affidavit. Vyas criticized Gujarat Congress stand on the issue in strong words.
