India-Pakistan international border was the destination preferred most by the tourists participating in Rann Utsav – 2009.
When tourists were asked to choose the tour of their preference from list of various destinations on second day of Rann Utsav, total 193 tourists preferred to visit Indo-Pak international border post.
Coastal beach town with palace – Mandvi was second preferred destinations chosen by 59 tourists.
Total 27 tourists choose to visit Chhari Dhand wetland. Only 26 tourists selected Dholavira, perhaps due to long distance.
India-Pakistan international border tour was added to Kutch Rann Utsav’s itinerary in year 2007. Since then this destination has been the preferred most one.
The border post of Vighokot is located at India-Pakistan international border pillar no.1111.
Normally civilians are not allowed to go beyond India bridge which connects civilian area of Khavda-Kuran and Border Security Force(BSF) controlled area of Rann of Kutch. It is only Rann Utsav, during which the tourists are allowed to have a guided tour upto the international border under surveillance and guidance of BSF officials. Tourists are taken to the border in buses. This year there were total 9 buses full of tourists. Each bus had presence of friendly BSF officials who mixed up with the tourists well answering their queries continuously.
Small pucca structure built by BSF in Vighokot post hosted the tourists. BSF catered lunch to the tourists and also showed border fencing and border marking pillar from distance.
Impressed by BSF’s hospitality, tourists shouted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jay.’
