Ahmedabad Police Commissioner on Friday canceled permission of Gujarat State Employees Coordination Committee’s 6 December rally following the security threat, Joint Commissioner of Police Satish Sharma said here in a press meet.
According to Sharma, Prabudh Nagrik Shakti Manch floated by former Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela and Suresh Mehta was also denied permission to organize a public meeting at the end of the rally near Navrang school in Naranpura area of the city on the same day.
“We have intelligence inputs that there is threat of terrorist attack in the city on December 6. As a precautionary measure, we have extensively beefed up security in the city and our forces will be on alert,” Joint Commissioner of police Satish K Sharma said.
“It is a very sensitive day, as Babri masjid was demolished in Ayodhya on this day in 1992 and we have to be cautious to see that there is no untoward incident or communal tension. Patrolling in sensitive areas has also been increased,” Sharma added.
Government is mobilizing all resources to make government staff’s agitation a failure. It has asked the RTO staff to remain on duty on Sunday to check vehicles bringing people in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile Shankarsinh Vaghela has announced that he would definately hold a rally.
