Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and ex-Chief Secretary of Gujarat Pravin K Lehri were inducted into Shree Somnath trust today morning in a meeting of trustees held at Infocity in Gandhinagar in presence of President of the trust Shree Keshubhai Patel and ex-Chief Minister of Gujarat and trustee Shree L.K.Advani who is former Deputy Prime Minister of India and also leader of opposition in Lok Sabha.
The decision to appoint Narendra Modi and Pravin Lehri(PK Lehri) as trustees was taken unanimously in view of two vacant posts in the trust.
Induction of BJP leaders in Somnath trust is old story. First, LK Advani was appointed in Shree Somnath trust in year May 1999 when he was central Home Minister. Then Keshubhai Patel was unanimously elected President of Somnath trust in year February 2004. Now Modi has also entered the trust whose main task is administration and development of first Jyotirlina Shree Somnath Mahadev’s Mandir and surrounding area.
Other major issues discussed in today’s trust meeting were – last year’s annual expenses of over 9 crore, creation of safety chain on the Somnath coast for safety of visitors, speeding up the construction work of new 75-room guest house to throw it open before next Shivaratri, and strengthening the wall of the Mandir and the shore against Arabian sea waters.
