Aamir khan today refused to talk about Chetan Bhagat controversy while interacting with media persons in Ahmedabad.
When asked about Chetan Bhagat-Three Idiots controversy, Aamir said, “I would not say because then the people would say I am doing publicity. Raju Hirani and Abhijat will address this topic.”
However he added, “I always believe that public is very solid, very smart. You can do anything but if your film is not good, it will not run. People had apprehension about what would happen if Lagaan and Gadar release at one time. But though released together, both the films actually worked well because they were good films. When the film is well, public would like it. And if the film is not good, whatever you do, but public would not come to watch it. A good film does not need gimmicks like self generated controversy.”
When asked about Shahrukh’s statement that Aamir Khan is actual no.1 star of bollywood, Aamir replied “I am not interested in number game, and I was never interested. When I watch other hero’s movie, I watch it as a person in audience and therefore I give my opinion about any movie as audience. I don’t believe in number game and never aim for any position. I believe that one should not run after success. If you run after success, then you may start doing wrong things. When I did Sarfarosh, no body was knowing its directors. When I did Lagaan with Ashu, he had couple of flop films to his credit. When we made Rang De Basanti, there were four to five films on Chandrashekhar Aazad already released. Taare Zameen Par was a movie featuring a child. I could say no to these successful movies if I thought about their success before doing it.”
When asked which is his best film, Aamir said his forthcoming film Dhobi Ghaat whose shooting has been completed is his best film. This film, directed by his wife Kiran, will release in second half of this year. “There are four main characters in this film, and I am one of them,” said Aamir.
When asked about his dream project, Aamir said he would love to make a movie on Mahabharata. “However I would need to allot 20 years for this project including five years committedly on research. And therefore I am afraid of starting this project.”
“So, if you make Mahabharata, what role would you choose for Shahrukh Khan in that film?” a journalist asked.
“I have not thought about it,” replied Aamir with his trade-mark cheerfulness on face.
