18-year-old boy, Narendrasinh Natwarsinh Solanki from Gujarat will get the National Bravery Awards – 2009 in New Delhi on 26 January for saving his father from a crocodile. Narendrasinh will be given the award by none other than the Prime Minister himself.
Solanki rescued his father from a crocodile on the bank of river Dhadhar in Bharuch district’s Amod Taluka based Junavadiya village last year on 8th June.
Narendrasinh’s father faced an attack of crocodile when he was watering a suction pipe through bucket in his farm. When Narendrasinh and his brother Pravin saw their father under crocodile attack they fought with crocodile for about 20 minutes. The crocodile was defeated when Narendrasinh punched on its eye. This puch compelled crocodile to open its mouth because of which father Natvarsinh could come out of its grip. Crocodile later left the place and went into the river.
