Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked the people of Chotila for electing the BJP candidate.

“We have won the seat with three times more margin this time compare to last election,” Modi told media persons after leaving the stage of his one of the Garib Kalyan Mela programme.

Gujarat BJP President Purushottam Rupala also celebrated the victory of Chotila seat. He was in Nadiad. “Chotila is not our traditional seat. However for last two elections, people of Chotila have put faith in BJP. I congratulate for their faith and trust.”

Meanwhile Gujarat Congress President Siddharth Patel blamed division of votes responsible for Congress defeat. “If you make total of votes received by Independent and Congress both candidates, it’s more than the votes received by the victorious BJP candidate. We lost the election due to division of votes.”

Congress candidate Niratben Dhoriya however blamed groupism in her party responsible for her defeat.”Shamjibhai demanded Congress ticket but didn’t get. He contested as inde[pendent candidate. Though I was official Congress candidate, many Congress workers worked for Shamjibhai actually. This is the reason of my defeat,” said Niratben talking to one of the local TV channels.
