Gujarat Rajya Sabha seat election on 25 February

The election for Rajya Sabha’s one vacate seat of Gujarat will be held on 25th February. Result will be declared on same day in the evening.
The seat fell vacant following the death of sitting BJP MP Suryakant Acharya last month.
Anyone elected on this seat will become Rajya Sabha MP for only about 17-month term that has been left in late Acharya’s total tenure.
Several names including late MP’s wife Hemaben Acharya, ex-Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, I.K.Jadeja etc are being discussed by the party leaders to fill this seat. Shri Acharya’s wife Hemaben was minister of Health in government of Gujarat during 1975-80.
