Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 13 February, 2010
It is advisable to avoid railway journey that passes through Southern Gujarat area on 15th of February as BJP units of southern Gujarat have announced to stop the rail traffic in south Gujarat’s 40 Railway stations on that day to protest Indian Railway’s discrimination towards Gujarat.
The agitation would be held under the leadership of Navsari BJP MP C.R.Patil. Talking to the media Shri Patil said, “The Indian Railway starts dozens of trains for eastern states but they never respond to concerns of our state. This time we would show our strength right before the Railway budget which is scheduled on 26th of this month.”
The railway officials from Mumbai rushed to Surat to convince MP CR Patil not to hold the agitation and assured to resolve the pending issues, however the MP demanded written assurance which was denied by the railway officials. Thus the negotion could not be successful.
Why agitation?
-To make Surat a world-class railway station
-To make Udhna station a satellite railway station
-To approve double track line between Udhna and Jalgaon
-To solve leakage problem of railway under-bridge
-To pressure for eight new trains
-To give stoppage to 15 trains at Navsari
-For more coaches for Telangana region
-For correction of Ticket canceling procedure
-Stoppage at Bilimora
-Stoppage at Sachin
-For underground bridge at Utran
-To resolve pending issue of farmers
-For new Shatabdi train
-Though Surat Municipal Corporation has paid 8.5 crore Rs, the railway department has not initiated works to be done from that money.
