It seems, the SIT date and the Amitabh Bachchan controversy has helped Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi immensely in Gujarat. Modi’s popularity was standstill or slightly down in last several months. But after fresh controversies he is again Mr. popular in Gujarat. This was evident in IPL match prize distribution ceremony held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium in Motera. The mass shouting of ‘Modi, Modi, Modi’ was in the air when Modi was seen. Modi had to wave his hand several times on request of fans gathered in the stadium. It is not that Mr. Modi was present in IPL match for the first time. In fact he has been there in every IPL match played at Motera stadium, but an attention that he grabbed on Sunday 28th March was unparalleled, thanks to his SIT date, the statement, the grace, the confidence he delivered after the SIT date, national media’s bashing that lasted for several hours on Saturday, and then the fresh Amitabh Bachchan controversy created by anti-Gujarat politicians. So thanks to all P-secular NGOs, Congress party and band wagon of TV channels, the popularity of Modi is charged for a while in Gujarat.
