Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 26 April, 2010
Addressing his first press conference as chief, the newly selected interim chief of Indian Premier League, Chirayu Amin, on Tuesday said following important things:
-It’s a tough job, I was not ready to take it but it was thrust upon me. But now that I have accepted it, I have taken it seriously. My job has just started and I am getting involved in it. I am sure over a period of time I will shortly get the details.
-IPL4 is suppose to be “bigger, better and transparent”
-The job has just started and I am getting involved in it. Over a period of time, we will get into the details.
-The show will go on. IPL 4 would be on schedule and it would be bigger and better. The cleaning up is already happening. My job is to run IPL in the most transparent manner.
I don’t know about the cheerleaders but the IPL nights will be stopped.
-I have my own working style which will evolve. Flamboyance has got nothing to do with cricket. Cricket is itself a religion, it sells itself.
-My job is to interact with franchises and assure them that their investment is safe and will flourish. IPL management is under the radar but I don’t think cricket is under scanner. IPL’s brand image is strong, no one can touch that. It’s a storm but it will pass.
-Nothing is out of control. There has to be a total of audit of things. Some documents are missing and the Board is looking into it.
-We have sports event management company International Management Grou and we are paying them a huge amount and we will restructure it (deal with IMG).
-Everyday the government is asking for series of documents and we are trying to provide it. I, however, have nothing to do with the cleaning up, my priority is to sail the ship and manage the interest of cricket, the players and IPL stakeholders. Let me first understand what is required to be done
