Gujarat Police organizes annual firing practice, but what’s the use?
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 5 May, 2010
On one side, the police officers who killed gangsters are arrested, on the other side the Gujarat Police is organizing annual firing practice for police jawans in eastern Gujarat’s Pavagadh forest this month.
The voices of “take position …. fire …!” will be heard in the jungles of Pavagadh during 15 to 18th of May. While first two days are reserved for Police constables, head constables and Assistant Sub Inspectors, the last two days are allotted to Police officers for firing practice.
Though such firing practice is organized every year in summer, this year it has propelled a great amount of discussion among cops that such firing practice would serve what purpose when killing a gangster invites arrest and awards years in prison! Who in police force would use his gun next time? What’s the logic behind keeping or operating gun and practicing for that? Looking at the current scenario where brave police officers who executed notorious criminals are arrested and jailed, it is all possible that the gangsters in future would not have any fear from cops or their gun!
