IPS officers association to help families of arrested cops

Gujarat’s IPS officers Association on Wednesday convened an urgent meeting of office bearers in Ahmedabad’s Shahibag police mess. After the meeting, IPS officer Vinod Mall said that no legal issue in connection with arrested IPS officers was discussed. According to Mall the meeting decided to help families of arrested cops if the need it. Also discussed was security issue of families of arrested officers.

It should be mentioned here that Gujarat’s two IPS officers have been arrested in last one week in two encounter cases. While Abhay Chudasama has been arrested in connection with gangster Sohrabuddin encounter case by CBI, another IPS officer Dr. Vipul Agrawal has been arrested by Gujarat CID (Crime). Two more Gujarat IPS officers DG Vanzara and Pandiyan are in jail for last three years without trial and are denied bail. Also in jail is Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Dinesh MN.

All these officers are considered very efficient and brave cops known for their proactive actions and excellent investigation track record. Their arrests have affected moral strength of Gujarat police.

Moreover, many other lower rank cops are also in jail. For last one week, CBI has summon at least five IPS officers in connection with Sohrabuddin encounter case.
