Setback for CBI as court denies further remand of Chudasama
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 5 May, 2010
Special CBI court on Wednesday rejected CBI’s demand for additional seven days’ remand of suspended IPS officer Deputy Commissioner of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch Shri Abhay Chudasama. This is major set back for CBI and some relief for Chudasama.
As per the court order Chudasama has been sent to judicial custody(jail). While CBI demanded to take Chudasama to any other jail outside Ahmedabad, Chudasama’s advocate demanded to ensure security of Chudasama inside the jail by keeping him separate from other prisoners as many who had been sent to jail by him were serving terms and could endanger his life. The lawyer also advanced the plea for medical help and even necessary hospitalization, due to his ill health. The court will take a decision on the request Thursday. Whole team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch and some IPS officers were seen in court campus in support of Chudasama on Wednesday.
