Students arrested in Vadodara for “hanging Kasab”
Vadodara, DeshGujarat, 10 May, 2010

Two students who hanged Pakistani terrorist Kasab’s effigy in public in Vadodara on Monday morning were arrested by local police for violation of notification issued by Vadodara Police Commissioner.

Students of Sardar Patel group had organized a programme to hang Kasab’s effigy in Amdavadi pol area in Vadodara. According to Harshil Limbachia, one of the students arrested, the protest was against delay in implementation of Mumbai court’s order awarding death to Kasab.

However the students had not applied for police permission to organize this protest. Therefore the police party snatched the black effigy of Kasab from students and arrested two main organizers.

As local MP and Mayor Shri Balkrushna Shukla came to know about this, he himself went to concerned police station and talked with higher police officials on phone to inquire about the arrests. Police assured him that this was a minor incident of violation of public notification and students will be released through local court today itself.

Shri Balkrushna Shukla said, “the students are patriotic and their concern about situation of the country is understandable. If they had demanded permission, police could give them. I am here to help them because their concern is right.”
