Congress rally in Panchmahal on water and fodder issues
Godhra, DeshGujarat, 20 May, 2010

Gujarat Congress’s Panchamahal district unit carried out a rally in Godhra protesting government’s insufficient actions on the front of providing water and fodder.

District Congress leaders say that though it was clear that monsoon was not well last year, the district administration didn’t do enough to cop up with the water problem that was sure to happen in summer. A woman in rural areas has to walk long to fetch water.

According to observers, the biggest problem is that the hand pumps are not repaired or maintained well in rural areas. In last one week, two children died in Godhra taluka’s Samli Betiya and Ghoghamba taluka’s Nava villages due to water born diseases. Same way Halol’s Kumbharwada and Samli villages are declared cholera affected. The district administration has sealed six hand pumps in Samli village. One farmer is dead due to extreme heat in Lunavada taluka.
