24 JNNRUM projects worth Rs.2,826-cr completed in Gujarat’s 4 cities

Gujarat has completed 24 projects worth Rs.2,826-crore under JNNURM in the four biggest cities in the state, Urban Development Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel said here today.
Addressing the state-level steering committee of Gujarat Urban development Mission to take stock of the JNNURM projects, Shri Patel said that with the growing importance of urbanization in this modern age the government is committed to address various urban problems. The state has already won global awards for its urban infrastructure.
JNNURM has so far sanctioned 69 projects worth Rs.5,240-crore, including 26 projects worth Rs.2,540-crore for Ahmedabad, 25 projects worth Rs.1.835-crore for Surat, 12 projects worth Rs. 574-crore for Vadodara and six projects worth Rs.305-crore for Rajkot. Other projects include BRTS, conservation of heritage structures, drinking water, sewer, over bridges and waste disposal.
Under basic services to urban poor, the Minister said, the state got sanction for 17 projects for 1,01,180 residential units worth Rs. 1,592.12-crore, including three projects worth Rs.524-crore for Ahmedabad, nine projects worth Rs.611-crore for Surat, three projects for Vadodara worth Rs.358-crore for Vadodara and two projects worth Rs.990crore for Rajkot.
Work on 49,316 residential units have been completed, including 16,364 in Ahmedabad, 23,424 in Surat, 4,836 in Vadodara and 4,632 in Rajkot. For providing basic infrastructure in slums, benefits have reached 8,375 in Ahmedabad, 8,114 in Surat and 4,160 in Vadodara.
As cities covered the JNNURM are known as ‘mission cities’, Shri Patel said, Porbandar has also got Rs.70.29-cr for its drinking water project.
