10 TV scribes detained for shooting Amitabh Bachchan at Somnath

About ten TV journalists and camera persons were detained by police and prevented capturing Amitabh Bachchan in their camera at Shri Somnath mandir in Gujarat. Shri Bachchan is in Somnath mandir for Gujarat Tourism ad shoot. He is given high security and the shooting is going on in guarded atmosphere.

The camera persons detained, were capturing visuals of Shri Amitabh Bachchan from roof top of a guest house, located at some couple of thousand meter distance from Somnath mandir.

When Amitabh, wearing traditional Kurta-paijama was being captured in camera, using zoom lens by TV camera persons, suddenly policemen arrived there and instructed the camera persons to stop shooting. The camera persons were taken to local police post. Their protest on ground and on their TV channel didn’t work.

The Somnath mandir has sea shore on its two sides, while on other two sides, and approach at third side. The fourth side has private properties including houses and guest house. The TV scribes managed to get Big B’s visuals from this side.

One of the news channels showed Amitabh Bachchan, dressed in white and standing in Somnath campus, looking embarrassingly towards a TV camera for a moment. As he saw a camera targeting him, Bachchan immediately turned back and talked something with IAS officer Vipul Mitra.

Police told camera persons that they would be kept in police detention till Amitabh Bachchan leaves the place.

Update

Police Inspector Vanrajsinh met protesting TV journalists at Somnath police station. He told angry TV journalists that as per Shri Amitabh Bachchan’s contract deeds, any external camera could not be allowed to cover his visual during ad shoot schedule. Inspector told journalist that he had verbal instruction from Gujarat Tourism to prevent camera persons to capture Amitabh Bachchan’s ad shoot. Police Inspector apologized for any misbehave that happened with the journalists. The issue was settled and journalists were finally agreed that it was not proper to cover Amitabh in view of the contract deeds, which they were not aware about. Journalists were then released from detention.
