Sahajanand College issue:ABVP steps in,University steps back
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat,9 June, 2010
The Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University had yesterday announced that if Sahajanand College continues not to obey Gujarat University’s dictation to accept Gujarati medium students admission forms before noon on Wednesday, the university would take over the admission procedure. However, even after this announcement, neither the college, nor the university has started accepting Gujarati medium students’ forms on till now.
A meeting was held today morning between Sahajanand college trustees and the Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University. The university asked college trustees to continue to give admission to Gujarati medium school students. The trustees replied that they would discuss it in their internal meeting.
For now it seems, the University vice-chancellor is eating crow.
Meanwhile 10 NSUI student activists were detained today while trying to enter the Sahajanand college campus. Yesterday’s arrested leader was sent to jail, as he didn’t get bail. Total four student activists were arrested yesterday after they ransacked the Principal’s office.
In another development today, RSS’s student wing ABVP today stepped in the Sahajanand college row. A group of ABVP students under the leadership of Secretary Krunal Patel shouted slogans outside the college and demanded strict actions by Gujarat University against the college.
