Speak Gujarati at home, Modi tells NRGs in Udaipur

Gujarat Chief Minister on Tuesday asked non resident Gujarati people settled in Udaipur to speak Gujarati at home, especially while interacting with children.

Speaking at inauguration function of newly built Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Lake city, Modi said: “It can be understood that your children study in English schools here. But at the same time, there should be no compromise on Gujarati language at any cost. Please interact with your children in Gujarati only at home, to protect Gujarati language and to pass this language to next generation. Wherever you are in the world, don’t forget Gujarati language.”

Modi delivered his speech in Gujarati language. He welcomed Gujarati families settled in Udaipur to bring their children to Gujarat to understand and taste the culture and traditions of Gujarat.”Gujarat Darshan tour must be operated once in a year for school children. Gujaratis should not miss Kutch Rann Utsav that gives a unique opportunity to be in the white rann during full moon night,” Modi said.

Udaipur Gujarati Samaj President Jaiminbhai Patel said that a Gujarati school will be set up in Udaipur soon. Gujarati Samaj of Udaipur presented a photo of Maharana Pratap to Modi. A 3,000 sq ft newly inaugurated Gujarati Samaj hall has been built at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.
