Dhrangadhra observes complete strike against illegal cow trafficking

Surendranagar district’s Dhrangadhra town is observing complete strike today to protest police’s failure in protecting cows and atrocity on those who protect cows.

On Friday morning, local animal right activists caught a truck near power house circle with 17 bullocks. The bullocks were being taken for slaughter by traffickers.

Animal right activists took control of the truck and took it to nearest Panjarapol located at Vrajpur board. Angry on illegal cow trafficking and slaughtering activities, a mob involving large number of locals present here tried to set truck on fire. When police tried to prevent the mob from doing so, the people protested. At least eight people were injured due to police lathicharge. When people started pelting stones, at least three policemen faced injuries.

Local unit of Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hidnu Parishad declared one-day strike protesting police lathicharge and inaction on Saturday. The strike was complete as all markets remained closed in Dhangadhra throughout the day.
