Drunk & drive nuisance:Gujarat Congress MP's car seized

North Gujarat’s Mahesana police seized local Congress Rajya Sabha MP Alka Khashtriya’s car GJ.2.AC.3031 and arrested Alkaben’s brother Ashok Khashtriya with three others for making nuisance in public after consuming liquor, and driving car while drunk.

On Wednesday night at around 12.00 am, the police control room received a message that some people are making nuisance near Shilpa Garage-Ashirwad industries area. When Sub Inspector Sharma reached the place, Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Alka Khashtriya’s brother Ashokbhai Balarambhai Khashtriya was speaking offending words, and he was unable to stand properly. Though Ashokbhai has permit to consume liquor, it was illegal to drive a car in drunk condition.

Police arrested Ashok Khashtriya and three others: Pratap alias Dahyabhai Hemrajbhai Chaudhary, Jayantbhai Pathubhai Desai, Varunkumar Maniram Bharadwaj, and took them to local Civil hospital for blood tests. They were later released on bail on Thursday.

The car that police has seized has “Member of Parliament” written on its rear side number plate. Alka Khashtriya is two-time Rajya Sabha MP of Congress.

Only last week, the President of Congress party’s Dhoraji unit in Saurashtra was arrested by police for illegal consumption of liquor in group. Section of local media had covered story that one Congress MLA was also there inside the liquor party. The MLA was helped by police to escape from the scene.
