“Corrupt GU Vice Chancellor kicked students on stomach”
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 2 July, 2010

For last some years, education has become an industry of making money, and Gujarat University is also part of this trend, said Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) on Thursday in Ahmedabad in a press conference.
ABVP alleged that Gujarat University Vice Chancellor is corrupt fellow, involved in corruption of millions of rupees. “There is a conspiracy going on to convert granted colleges into self finance one. The Vice Chancellor should resign. Though ABVP had not attacked him, he is lying for publicity. Gujarat University is not a property of Vice Chancellor Trivedi, it is students’ property.”
Clarifying their position on Wednesday’s alleged attack on Vice Chancellor by ABVP workers, Darshan Gunjal, Secretary, Gujarat state ABVP said, “when our student workers went to Vice Chancellor, he said he did not want to talk to goons. He also verbally abused the students. When students sat on the floor near his feet to get his answer, the Vice Chancellor kicked them and tried to stand on student’s chest. He could nto maintain balance and felled down. At that time, the police arrived and lathicharged the students. We have decided to file a police complaint against the Vice Chancellor. If he has not time to listen to students issues, he should immediately resign. We will continue to protest.”
Meanwhile Gujarat University affiliated colleges observed one-day strike protesting alleged attack on Vice Chancellor. On Thursday Metropolitan court of Ahmedabad released arrested students involved in alleged attack on VC on Rs 5000 bail. The court ordered students to submit their passports and instructed them not to enter in University area.
