Color grenades will control and identify rioter through colors

Now dye color grenades will replace tear gas, for use in extreme situations in Gujarat. Ahead of the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad, have for the first time given color grenades to its personnel. Until now, these grenades were used only for training purposes. Non-lethal weapon for mob control during communal tensions.

Dye color grenades are powerful tools to nail a rioter. Upon detonation, a grenade leaves a heavy non-washable colour on the body of the rioter that stays there for months for sure. This helps the police to identify persons involved in any form of crime during the riots. Such grenades do not cause damage. They are lighter, less harmful, are better in use and have a faster effect on the crowd. Color grenades will help the police identify persons who have pelted stones, thrown petrol bombs, acid bulbs or used any form of arms and weapons of destruction during riots.

The grenades are presently handed over to State Reserve Police Force(SRPF) commandos stationed in the communally tense or sensitive spots in various cities. The first set of such grenades have been provided to SRPF commandos stationed in Shahpur, Dariapur, Kalupur and Gomtipur in Ahmedabad.
