Amin not needed as star witness at this juncture:CBI tells court

CBI today told special CBI court in Ahmedabad that it doesn’t need Sohrabuddin encounter case accused former DySP N.K.Amin as star witness in this case at this juncture.

The court will held further hearing on N.K.Amin’s appeal to permit him to become star witness on 10 August.

Amin is jailed for Sohrabuddin encounter case. It should be mentioned here that other eight jailed cops accused in same case have opposed Amin’s plea to become star witness.

CBI wants to take Amin’s statement under section 164 to know how substantial evidences he has, and how important his statement is for CBI to strengthen its case. Once CBI completes this procedure, it will take decision on whether to support N.K.Amin’s plea to become star witness or not.

The accused in Sohrabuddin case will be given copy of CBI charge sheet against them on 10 August.
