The new luggage scanner system was introduced today at Shri Somnath Mandir in Gujarat.
This is one more step in the direction of protecting the great historic Mandir that witnessed number of attacks of Jihadi invaders in past.
The new luggage scanning machine has been installed at gate. no.1 of Sardar Chowk, the first gate outside the core campus of Mandir.
Each bag entering the outer campus of Somnath Mandir will pass through new scanning machine which is similar to that installed at airports for baggage check.
In another step to protect the Mandir more efficiently, the authority has raised the height of frontal wall of Mandir by two feet.
Meanwhile Union minister of state for Home Affairs Shri Mullappally Ramachandran visited Somnath Mandir on Saturday and offered prayer and Pooja.
The minister also studied the security arrangements at the Mandir in detail during his visit.
