Mahesana, 6 January, 2011
After a drunk youth of their village died, they gathered and demolished the houses of local liquor brewers. But instead of pat on back for this act, they are now facing police complaint.
This is the story of Maktumpur village which is located near Unjha town of north Gujarat.
A drunk youth of this village fell into Narmada canal and died few days back which sparked anger among the villagers who ultimately gathered in crowds and entirely demolished the houses of local liquor brewers and sellers.
Local women alleged that Police never acted against liquor brewers and bootleggers. They said the policemen used to visit local bootleggers every month to get ‘hafta’ and ‘potli’.
Interestingly now as many as 36 men and women of the village who attacked the houses of the bootleggers are facing police action as the bootleggers have filed police complaint against them.
