Work for beautification of road to Somnath Mandir was kicked off today morning in presence of local trustee, and officials of the temple.

As per the plan, about 3.25 km long road from Somnath Shankh circle to Hamirji Gohel circle and beyond will be developed at a cost of Rs. 4.98 crore granted by Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board. The road beautification project will include walk way on the both sides of the road, service road, path way, benches, sitting pavilion, water huts, landscaping, new trees, and sculptures in the central verge of the road. Moreover a 140 wide and 70 ft tall grand entrance gate will be built in design similar to Shri Somnath Mandir. The entry gate will be decorated with colorful LED lights. Such lights will also be used to decorate the road to Somnath Mandir.

Meanwhile a new 1 ton weight and 8 seater golf car to carry weak and old pilgrims to the Mandir was launched. The golf car has been bought by Somnath Trust through Rs.4.28 lakh financial aid of Tapas trust run by BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Patel.
