Kutchis in Mumbai jubilant as they get third train to Vatan
Mumbai, 25 February, 2011
Kutchis living in Mumbai must be happy with today’s budget presented by central Railway minister Mamata Banerjee.
For last few months, Kutchis of Mumbai had started agitation demanding third train between Mumbai and Kutch. They had put forward a genuine complain of difficulty in getting booking in existing two trains most of the time due to over rush on this route, and lacking of enough trains.
Kutchis had organized a huge rally in support of their demand last month at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan to attract Railway department’s attention.
They had asked the railway ministry that if there could be holiday special trains between Kutch and Mumbai regularly and succesfully running in winter and summer, why not permanent train then?
Today in Railway budget when central railway minister announced a new train between Dadar and Bhuj(three times a week) Kutchis in Mumbai and back in Kutch were jubilant over their victory. All they wish now is quick beginning of this train.
